You can't beat great music and free food. The Judge (Aubrey Bean) set up a buffet of very tasty appetizers - small brisket sandwiches, hot wings, sliced smoked sausages, chips and salsa - his bonus Christmas party. Wade and the band provided some superb music. There were some electrical malfunctions - did we say the band was hot? - various pieces of equipment and lights decided at random to leave the party (They'd been doing some remodeling of the place and wiring needs didn't get factored in correctly.) It was a challenge to the band, but the packed house cheered them on.
The Wade crowd was lively, into the music, and having a great time. Travelers were prevalent - states that I counted (in addition to Tennessee) were Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri, Texas and Illinois.
And those of us who stayed until Wade packed up got a bonus. In addition to the regular program with the band - traditional country standards - there was an unusual encore after the band had left. Wade silently slipped a 6 song demo cd into the sound system and nonchalantly went about packing up. The crowd caught on quicly to what was coming over the sound system. We listened to some extraordinary music he'd composed and recorded - with the same phrase on everyone's lips - "gotta have it."
