It had been a long FOUR years and we all packed up the vehicle and went on a road trip. I was leaving Northern Virginia from the remnants from a hurricane that had left us for the past few days with a lot of rain.  Even that morning when we were leaving it was still raining and very cool outside. But that was not going to dampen our spirits for our road trip to see Wade. Like all of all the trips to see Wade before it is always better with friends and I had three others to share the trip. We made it there in no time. The weather that day was gorgeous! The clouds were looming around but that went away quickly and made for a very nice cool evening.
Wade couldn't have looked or sounded better. He did all the Wade hits along with some of the great covers that I enjoy like "She's Actin Single" and "Wichita Lineman." His guitar solo during that song was amazing. He came out in front of us and just played a long solo. It was so great to see him so into his playing and his voice sounds great as well. The new stuff that I did get to hear are all hits to me. The one that touched me the most was "The Best Part." Wade told a piece before the song about his parents being together for 40 years and how much he admired them for that. The song is beautifully written and he sung it with so much compassion. I can honestly say that my friends and I had the Kleenex out afterwards because it is a tearjerker. The set was a nice long one but not seeing Wade for over 4 years not long enough. Wade was kind enough to come out and do two more songs for an encore.
 After the show Wade took take time to sign for everyone that stayed to meet him. It was just really great to see him interacting with people and it looked like he was really having a great time. I sat there for awhile just taking pictures of him during the meet and greet. Then I headed on up to say hi. He kept asking me how long it had been and I told him 3 years, but then realized it was 4, but hey who's counting. It was really nice to talk to him and catch up. He looked really great - did I say he looked great..:) I told him that it was nice to see him and Randy up there together and he was really in his own element.
Just a few hours ago we were going down the road to the fair, then setting up our chairs to wait a couple hours for the show - then it was over. It was great and I was so very happy that I took the opportunity to go. That show was better than any holiday cookout that I was invited to that weekend. What a way to spend your Labor Day Weekend than going to a Wade show and meeting Wade fans as well. ~~ Wendy
